Our One Year Anniversary
6/16
PSA: There will be an overload of Eiffel Tower pictures in this post.
We had a very early morning wake up call. Aside from melting away and getting very little sleep we're we're excited to meet with Maggie LaLonde of Margaret Kathleen Photography. She flew in from Canada to shoot our Anniversary Photoshoot. Like us, here favorite city is Paris.
We travelled to the Trocadero, Alexander Pont III, the Lourve, and our spot on the Seine. We popped a bottle of Moët and finished it before 8 in the morning. Breakfast of champions right?!
She showed us a few sneak peeks on her camera and we cannot wait to see the rest! She is also a film photographer so we're counting down the days until we know they have developed.
Once the shoot was over we went home for a nap. After we rallied, we were HUNGRY. My cousin Jennifer told me I needed to order the Croque-monsieur. It is like a delicious fried grilled ham and cheese. So. Much. Cheese.
Also Monacos are super refreshing on a hot day. I read that it's basically like a spiked Shirley Temple in the states. Mostly young people in their late teens order it, oh and tourists.
Later that evening we met our new friends Maggie (our photographer) and another photographer living in Paris named Lisa! Lisa took us to a funky restaurant in the city center. Close to Le marais. The Marais is a super trendy neighborhood of Paris.
After dinner and drink we decided to get GELATO! 🍧
6/17
We started the day in our favorite spot on the Seine. First we had to stop by the wine shop "Nicolas" to get a bottle of Rosè.
Afterwards we picked up some baguettes of course and continued our walk.
We sat here for a fews hours just reminiscing on the past year. Watching our wedding video and looking through all of our pictures.
We noticed there was a cork floating closer to us. Nico had to check and see if it was the cork that we (accidentally) popped into the seine during our shoot. We had to save it if it was.
Nico used the selfie stick to get it closer and almost fell in trying to get it! HAHA! It ended up not being the same cork. It was an old nasty one covered in slime.
After a few hours we decided to stroll along the Seine.
We crossed a bridge and walked back towards the Eiffel Tower. We stumbled upon a boat bar. It had live music, dancing, and AFFORDABLE drinks. Basically all of my favorite things.
We ended up staying here for hours. Dancing, drinking, and watching the Eiffel Tower light up every hour in the hour.
It was the perfect Saturday night!
We even ended it with late night Chinese food. It was ok.
6/18 Our Anniversary
We woke up and had our morning coffee and quiche and looked through wedding photos and watched our wedding video, again. It's so hard to believe we have been married a whole year. They say time goes by so fast, but you don't believe them until you actually experience it. This year went by in a blink. It was full of obstecales, but mostly love and happiness. We had a lot of firsts which is surprising and new since we have been dating for 7 years. We feel so lucky to be in a city we love, with family and friends, and to be in jobs we love. We also love that our jobs allow us to travel and experience new adventures together!
Most of our day was spent without phones and cameras. It was spent doing our favorite things with each other with no distractions.
We brought out the phones for our special dinner. Nico made reservations at Les Ombres. It was a beautiful restaurant sitting under, you guessed it, the Eiffel Tower.
I'll let the pictures speak for themselves!
It was by far the best meal we have ever had. We loved every second of those three hours.
Thank you to all of our family friends who reached out to us to wish us a Happy Anniversary. It made our day 10x better! We love you!
Love,
