Jardin Du Luxembourg and a Monaco

Bonsoir!

Here's a quick recap of last night's (6/1) outing. We caved and got Mexican food on  our first night in Paris. What's wrong with us?! Tacos are a comfort food to us so it was a no-brainer. Familiar and delicious. We have no regrets. 🌮

6/2

The smells of fresh bread coming from the neighborhood bakery and a church bell were my alarm clocks this morning.  I could definitely get used to this. Nico and I both slept a little over 6 hours last night. I consider that a victory! Jet lag is hitting us pretty hard. We're exhausted, but eager to get out and explore.

Once we were up and getting ready, we decided to take the day as it came. No real plans other than strolling through Jardin du Luxembourg and getting ice cream.

I love walking the streets of Paris. I'm always surprised by its consistent beauty. Our walk today was simply gorgeous. I love the old buildings and gardens on every street.

Jardin du Luxembourg was a place we frequented a lot on our honeymoon. We had a real moment of deja vu waking in. It was surreal to be there again a year later. It's our favorite park to just come sit, people watch, and stare at the palace.

After a couple of hours strolling and people watching we decided to grab lunch. We walked across the street to this cute cafe. We ordered a Monaco drink by recommendation! It was delicious. Sweet, but not too sweet. Basically it's an amber beer with lemonade (or lemon-limeflavoring) and grenadine! It was refreshing and exactly what we needed on this hot day.

We were craving meats and cheese. We ordered the charcuterie board and the fromage variety board. The cheese was extra stinky. We basically cleaned the plates minus the blue cheese. 😷

Once we were finished we walked to get our favorite chocolate ice cream! I took a couple of shots along the way. I swear there is something beautiful on every corner of the city. It always surprises me.

Once we arrived we recognized the same lady from last year who served us. She's still angry and yelling at whoever she's working with. Again, deja vu moment.

The best chocolate ice cream in the world! It's so rich!

We walked over to Notre Dame to finish our ice cream and just stared at all of her glory. She's magnificent. The line was way to long so we decided to forego going inside this time.

We decided to go by Shakespeare and Company and check to see if they had a hard back cover of Beauty and the Beast. They were sold out again, but thankfully we are here long enough for them to order it for me! Should be here in a week or so. YAY!

After being out for a few hours we decided to go home and nap. The walk home started out beautiful. So many markets and flower shops along the way.

Distracted by all the beauty we accidentally took a wrong turn and ended up in a not so great area. Only frightened for a moment we were able to redirect ourselves and find our way home.

Once we got home we crashed. Hard. I slept for 4 hours and Nico is still sleeping. We're going to freshen up and grab dinner soon. There's a really cute wine bar down the street we want to try. Our neighborhood is filled with students and young families! It's so alive! I love it!

Au revoir!

Love,

The Quintanas
